Reading the numbers
Start On the near long rail, 5 a diamond from the corner: 0 up to 20. It is read through the cue ball itself — the line from the aim point, through the cue ball, back to this rail.
Aim On the far long rail, 10 a diamond from the corner: 0 up to 30.
Arrival On the short rail, 1 a diamond: where the cue ball must reach its third cushion, before either ball.
Step by step
- Choose the finish on the short rail that sends the cue ball into both balls.
- Guess an aim, draw its line through the cue ball and read the start on the near long rail.
- Aim = Start + Finish: 10 + 2.5 = 12.5. Re-read the start for the new line and work it once more.
- Add the table correction.
The stroke
A bank shot: no side, centre ball or a touch of follow, firm enough to travel three cushions and still reach both balls.
