Reverse Short–Long–Short

Bank shot with reverse side, solved for side spin. From the near long rail the cue ball is sent up into the corner: short rail, long rail, and the reverse turns it back onto the short rail before it comes down to finish on the long rail it left. Start and finish count 10 per diamond from the corner, aim counts 5 per diamond down the short rail from the corner.

FormulaEffect = (Start + Aim + Finish) ÷ 5 + table correction

Reading the numbers

Start On the near long rail from the corner, 10 a diamond: 0, 5, 10, 15.

Aim On the short rail from the corner, 5 a diamond towards the middle: 0, 5, 10.

Arrival Back on the near long rail, on the start's scale.

Step by step

  1. Add the three numbers: Start + Aim + Finish.
  2. Divide by 5 for the tips: 5 is 1 tip, 10 is 2, 15 is 3 and anything from 17 to 20 is 4.
  3. 10 + 0 + 5 = 15, so three tips of reverse side. Add the table correction.

The stroke

Reverse side, centre height, a soft stroke. The reverse turns the ball back onto the short rail in the corner.
