Reading the numbers
Start On the short rail the cue ball leaves from: 40 in one corner down to 0 in the other, 10 a diamond.
Aim On the first cushion, the opposite short rail: 40 at the middle diamond, 20 at the next, 0 in the corner — 20 a diamond.
Arrival Back on the start's short rail, on the same scale as the start: where the ball must come back to make the carom.
Step by step
- Read the start where the cue ball's line after the red runs back to its own short rail.
- Choose the arrival on that same rail.
- Aim = Start − 1.5 × Arrival: 36 − 1.5 × 14 = 15.
- Add the table correction and aim through the diamond on the far short rail.
The stroke
No side at all, level cue, slight follow, medium speed. This is Tuzul's no-side branch: the ball goes short rail, long rail, short rail down the length of the table.
