How it works
From the System Library: the source's numbers, checked in this game's physics but not reviewed by a coach.
The Plus system for starts below 20, where the Plus 20–60 scale runs out: Aim = Arrival − Start, with one attack scale for every start. Two published versions agree on it.
The attack counts from the far corner of the short rail: 20 in the corner, 25 a diamond down, 30 at two. Keep the arrival at 40 or less; beyond it the sources switch to a table of corrections.
Reading the numbers
Start On the long rail behind the cue ball, along the line it leaves the red on: 5 half a diamond from the attack rail's corner, 10 at the first diamond, 15 at one and a half.
Aim On the first cushion, the short rail: 20 in the far corner, 2.5 every half diamond down to 30 at the second diamond.
Arrival On the third cushion, back on the near long rail: 10 a diamond from the attack rail's corner — 20 at the second diamond, 40 at the middle.
Step by step
- Choose the arrival on the near long rail, 40 or less.
- Read the start from the line the cue ball leaves the red on, traced back to the long rail.
- Aim = Arrival − Start. Arrive at 35 from start 10: aim at 25, a diamond down from the corner.
- Re-read the start along the new line, work it once more, then add the table correction.
The stroke
Four tips of running side, a touch below centre, a soft stroke.
