Plus 4 · Distance × 4

The Plus system counted in diamonds: the distance along the near long rail from where the cue ball's line starts to where it must arrive, times four, is the attack on the short rail. Running side.

How it works

From the System Library: the source's numbers, checked in this game's physics but not reviewed by a coach.

The Plus system counted in diamonds: from where the cue ball's line meets the near long rail to where it must come back to that rail, times four, is the attack on the short rail ahead. Aim = 4 × (Arrival − Start).

Start and arrival are plain diamond counts along the same rail; only their difference matters. The attack counts 10 a diamond from the corner away from that rail.

Reading the numbers

Start On the near long rail, in diamonds from the attack rail's corner: where the cue ball's line after the red, carried back, meets the rail.

Aim On the first cushion, the short rail ahead: 0 in the corner away from the near rail, 10 a diamond to 40 in the other.

Arrival On the third cushion, back on the near long rail, in the same diamonds as the start.

Step by step

  1. Choose the arrival on the near long rail.
  2. Read the start where the cue ball's line meets the same rail.
  3. Aim = 4 × (Arrival − Start). From 2 to 7 is five diamonds: aim at 20, the short rail's middle.
  4. Re-read the start along the new line, work it once more, then add the table correction.

The stroke

Three to four tips of running side, centre height, a smooth stroke.
