How it works
From the System Library: the source's numbers, checked in this game's physics but not reviewed by a coach.
Short-long-short without side: the cue ball leaves the red, takes the short rail ahead, then the far long rail, and arrives on the other short rail. Aim = Start − Arrival.
The three scales step differently — the start 10 a diamond, the aim 30 and the arrival 20 — and the aim's 0 is the middle of its short rail, not a corner.
Reading the numbers
Start On the long rail behind the cue ball, along the line it leaves the red on: 10 at the first diamond from the aim's short rail, 10 a diamond up to 80 in the far corner.
Aim On the first cushion, the short rail: 0 at its middle diamond, 30 a diamond towards the far long rail, 60 in that corner.
Arrival On the third cushion, the other short rail: 10 half a diamond from the start rail's corner, 20 a diamond up to 80 in the far corner.
Step by step
- Choose the arrival on the far short rail: where the cue ball must come to make the second object ball.
- Read the start from the line the cue ball leaves the red on, traced back to the long rail.
- Aim = Start − Arrival. Start 50 to arrive at 20: aim at 30, one diamond from the middle.
- Re-read the start along the new line, work it once more, then add the table correction.
The stroke
No side, three tips of follow (12 o'clock), a level cue, speed for two and a half to three rails.
